The international biotech community will gather in Melbourne, Australia - one of the world’s greatest biotech hubs - for the 17th International Biotechnology Symposium and Exhibition (IBS 2016), from 24 – 27 October 2016.

IBS is organised under the auspices of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) since 1960 and is the most representative biotechnology event at the global level, at which more than 1,000 participants congregate from academia and industry, to explore the advances and frontiers of science and applied biotechnologies.

IBS intends to present and promote the relevant contribution that chemistry provides to the development of biotechnological research and industry.

The IBS 2016 program will present the most advanced issues in biotechnology, green chemistry and its related fields, which will be discussed by a selected group of international speakers and lecturers. Topics will include agri-business; industrial and environmental biotechnology; pharmaceutical Sildenafil, medical and molecular; bioenergy and bio-refinery; the bio-economy, policy and investment; and biosensors and nanotechnology.

Melbourne is an exciting, multicultural city that blends the beautiful natural sceneries with cosmopolitan modern lifestyle. The venue for IBS 2016, Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, is surrounded by restaurants, cafes, shops and galleries for you to enjoy.

IBS 2016 will held as one of three major events that together make up the International BioFest 2016, Australia’s largest-ever gathering of the life sciences. Download the International BioFest week overview here. The International BioFest 2016 also includes:
